Vintage and Shabby Chic Furniture makeover - new start!

Though it may not feel it, this is a moment of opportunity!. The Ace of Pentacles is all about the potential burning at your core - the potential to go somewhere, to be something. It’s about manifestation of dreams or desires in a really tangible, earthy way - making something real from what was only imagined. This text comes from my latest tarot reading that highlighted the need of keeping the soul in what I do next.
It has taken me years to realise that I would enjoy woodwork and furniture makeover (especially turning mirrors, fancy cabinets and sidetables into vintage beauties!) as a hobby. I'm going to have a go at it to reflect the changes that have happened within me in recent months.

My favourite vintage and shabby chic interior design perfectly suited for a small studio in abusy city.

I love shabby chic for its appearance of age, time worn and signs of and wear and tear. Its unique, does not have to be pricey but turns out posh and elegant with every item being renovated. Furniture  makeover gives the ability to bring old furniture to new, exciting life!

Next Year Portugal Lisbon

Next year I'm planning to spend my holiday in Portugal.

Portugal is famous for hot temperatures and long coastlines of sand. You can either sunbathe yourself on one of its beaches or be part of a bustling and culture filled city break in the medieval city of Lisbon. Immerse yourself in hot exotic water!

Oak in interior design

Whether you require an oak panelled room, an oak floor or just a piece of furniture you need to know exactly what to expect. Oak furniture should suit your personal requirements, so gathering sufficient information about oak in interior design is the first step to take. One should definitely think through their options before investing their pocket fulls of money in oak furniture, which belongs to the most tasteful and stylish woods in interior design.

When I think of oak the following words come into my mind: medieval, solid, and hand carved. But then I actually think that one of the biggest advantages of using oak in interior design is that it can be used for a wider variety of styles from traditional oak designs to contemporary oak furniture . The two top qualities of oak that you should know about are strength and hardwearing. Thanks to its outstanding wear resistance its commonly used for wall panneling or designing dining sets. For example oak dining tables from Top Furniture (pick above) seem to have all what you potentially would expect from oak . I really like how the management of the company describes their attitude to producing oak furniture: They say “You get what you pay for in furniture like most other things in life”. This could not be more accurate. Obviously you would like your furniture to be top quality, reflecting your taste but you need to be prepared for spending more than you would potentially do when buying for example pine furniture, which might be offputing for some.

However, what is worth pointing out, is that oak is very natural wood with every board being as different as a humans fingerprints. Have you noticed? Some say its sometimes hard to avoid deviations in colour and surface texture . However, I think this is exactly what gives an oak its unique character. The oak has been the predominant timber tree in Europe since prehistoric times according to the british tree guide and has definitely earned reputation for longevity and great quality throughout its long history.

There are many unique and stylish places across London. This one "The Betsy Smith" is a fantastic addition to dusty and grey Kilburn High Street. Cave house - is it possible?

Alexandre De Betak house in Mallorca is extraordinary. This means that the walls and ceiling are uneven and mirror the cave. The interior design is not uniform or clearly defined as it happens in traditional houses. In this stone house the floor is covered with soft pebbles and most furniture pieces are made from natural wood and they have an original design.

Cosmopolitan window in London

Finally! I have found an excellent place where I would like to spend next year with my partner. The apartment is located in the heart of London, very small but cosmopolitan. Why cosmopolitan? We have got a wonderful big window over facing a very well known street in London. I can imagine us eating breakfast every morning and being observed by envy passengers from double decker buses passing right next to our window. They would certainly like to stop by and drink some coffee with us! Or if they preferred creamy lavazza to our company they surely could pop in to Italian restaurant which is located just under our ...cosmopolitan window. So happy!

Figurative elegance

Paintings by Anna Razumovskaya .

"With her classic figurative forms, highly acclaimed Russian artist Anna Razumovskaya magically captures the lyrical romanticism of renaissance portraiture, while creating art that is completely modern and original. Anna is inspired by the graceful elegance of the female form, at turns, classically alluring, demure and provocative. Her art has a pervasive sense of ‘romanticism’, and the passionate and dynamic application of paint on the canvas and the artist’s signature use of expressive colour, combine to create her uniquely recognisable style".

Art ideas: Plotting human emotions

Emotional imaginery is becoming more popular. For example, Jane Davies, a student of the University of Southampton decided to use a human face as a canvas to display emotions such as happiness, disgust, suprise etc. As human emotions are indeed unpredictable, a student plotted the points, according to where the emotions were felt the most on her face. Akward but interesting!
